Tobacco Treatment Overview
I have helped hundreds of individuals over the past 25 years quit their tobacco habits. Today, as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist, I offer a state-of-the art, evidence-based treatment program for tobacco users who choose to end their tobacco usage.
The program involves individual sessions (no groups) and pharmaceutical assistance if you and your physician agree. The treatment involves a one-hour assessment session (in which we formulate based on your habit, the most effective treatment components), followed by 6 weekly sessions in which you learn cessation strategies, set goals, and plan your quit date. Monthly follow-up sessions are scheduled to decrease the probability of relapse.
While it is hard to guarantee success, using these proven treatment methods does increase the probability of success. The treatment regime involves thorough tobacco education, strategies to reduce usage and ultimately quit, learning relaxation and problem solving techniques, in addition to relapse prevention skills. Your ultimate treatment is personalized to meet your needs.
Unfortunately, in the State of Georgia, most insurance companies still do not reimburse for smoking cessation treatment; please check with your insurance company for specifics. Some people can be reimbursed through their employers or use their flex accounts for payment.
